Snow and rain showers cover a large area of the Northeast this afternoon. The temperature at 5 p.m. in Central Park was 45 degrees. Last Saturday the high temperature was 73 and last Sunday it was 80. A trace of snow fell between approximately 1:30 and 2:00 a.m. this morning and between approximately 4:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. this afternoon in Midtown Manhattan. This is the first time snow has reached the ground in Manhattan since 1977 and only the third time since records began in the mid 1800s.
