Photos from Manhattan and Brooklyn...Snowstorm on February 25, 2010

The above photos were taken in Manhattan and downtown Brooklyn during the snowstorm of Thursday, February 25, 2010. Rain began overnight, the precipitation changed to snow by 9 AM in Manhattan with huge half dollar-sized snowflakes. The snow created very wet, slushy conditions through the afternoon. In the evening, the temperature cooled to 28 degrees in Central Park by midnight and the snow accumulated on all roads and sidewalks.

Photos of Feb. 9-10, 2010 Storm Near Perth Amboy, NJ

Here are some photos taken near Perth Amboy at the height of the storm on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 during the afternoon. Between 9 and 10 inches of snow fell in the area with as much as 16 inches in Hunterdon County, 13 inches in Freehold and 9 inches in Point Pleasant. Philadelphia had another 17 inches on top of the 28 inches they had last weekend.

Perth Amboy, NJ Area Photos of Snow That Fell on Feb. 6, 2010

Here are a few photos taken near Perth Amboy, NJ during Saturday afternoon of February 6, 2010 after the snow had ended. A total of 4" was measured in nearby Staten Island and 3.8" in Roselle. Only a trace fell in Manhattan and Central Park.

More Photos of December 19, 2009 Snowstorm in Perth Amboy, New Jersey

These were taken at the beginning of the heaviest snow around 9 PM, Saturday evening, December 19, 2009. The temperature was 22 degrees and the wind was blowing from the northeast at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. There was 5.5 inches of snow on the ground with drifts as high as 10 to 12 inches.

Mult-Level Clouds Over Woodbridge, NJ

The clouds on this day in early September 2009 were particularly interesting and beautiful. The clouds that were present on this day were found at three different levels in the atmosphere: low, middle and high. High cirrus clouds raced across the sky along with mid-level altocumulus and low-level cumulus. It was a great day. Photos were taken with a cell phone camera which limited the quality of these photos.

Well-Developed Cumulus Over Manhattan

These cloud photographs were taken on a day with strong instability as high pressure and drier air moved into the Northeast. The clouds are well-developed cumulus clouds that may have produced a light shower or sprinkle. The view is to the northeast around 4 PM and taken in Hells Kitchen, Manhattan.
